The Museum of Art and History Fribourg (MAHF) consists of three main areas: the Hôtel Ratzé, the former slaughterhouse, and the building for temporary exhibitions. It also has a garden that serves as a setting for monumental sculptures. The Espace Jean Tinguely – Niki de Saint Phalle (Espace JTNSP) is a unique place dedicated to the creative work of two significant artistic personalities of the 20th century. Together, the two institutions present works that testify to the cultural history of the Canton of Fribourg. Your Tasks
- Assisting with the setup and dismantling of exhibitions including packaging and transport work, under the direction of the technical manager and in consultation with the exhibition curator and management
- Assisting with the careful relocation of cultural assets in exhibitions, storage, and during transport
- Assisting in the production of transport, packaging, exhibition, and consumable materials as well as maintenance of the machinery
- Helping to implement safety measures for staff, visitors, artworks, and premises
- Participating in the installation and maintenance of lighting equipment, sound systems, and multimedia installations
- Managing object locations in the depot (updating location changes of works and objects) under the supervision of the technical manager to ensure the preservation and order of the cantonal collections
Desired Profile
- Federal VET Diploma in a construction trade (carpenter, electrician, etc.) or equivalent qualification
- Experience in cultural institutions or museums
- Precise working method, versatility, flexibility, and sense of responsibility. You are resilient and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- You are a team player
- IT skills and willingness to expand your knowledge
- Knowledge in multimedia and video is an advantage
- Category B driving licence
- Fluency in French or German with good knowledge of the other language
