The Department of Economics and Internal Affairs combines the areas of economy and work, social issues, as well as community and corporate affairs. It is characterized by a special diversity of tasks and thus offers an exciting and varied working day. The Community Affairs Office, as part of the department's secretariat, provides advisory and supportive functions for the municipalities in the canton of Glarus.
We are looking for a
Head of Community Affairs Office 60–80 %
starting January 1, 2026, or by agreement. The workplace is in Glarus (home office possible).
Responsibilities
- Supervision of financial budget and accounting
- Accounting controls
- Information and advice on accounting and financial law issues
- Support on special topics such as asset accounting, cost accounting, or internal control systems (ICS)
- Participation in inter-cantonal working groups and professional organizations
- Training of those responsible for the financial area
- Expansion of calculation models, collection of financial key figures, control and assessment of municipal accounts, statistical evaluation, reporting (municipal finance rating)
- Internal management and coordination of municipal files (excluding complaints and supervisory reports)
- Professional support for internal departments on financial technical issues
Requirements
- Federal diploma in finance and accounting or a university degree with a specialization in accounting
- Several years of professional experience in finance and accounting, ideally with knowledge of public finances
- Analytical skills and interconnected thinking
- Solution-oriented and independent action
- Structured and reliable working method
- Assertiveness, flexibility, and resilience
- Presentation and communication skills
- Confidence in written and spoken language
