Senior Consultant Anaesthesiology 80-100% - Supported into the New Role

You have obtained your specialist title in anaesthesiology but are still unsure whether you are ready for a senior consultant position? In this role, you do not have to be able to do everything from day one: you will grow into your new role within a manageable team and gradually take on more responsibility.

The position is particularly aimed at younger specialists from Germany who wish to combine their next career step with a move to Switzerland. You will contribute your experience in general and regional anaesthesia, expand your professional skills, and gain initial experience at the senior consultant level.

The regionally anchored acute hospital in northern Switzerland performs around 6,500 anaesthesias annually. The broad spectrum includes planned and emergency procedures as well as anaesthesiological care in the operating theatre, delivery room, intensive care and emergency units, and during resuscitations.

Care is organised through a 24-hour specialist presence system. As part of the daily responsibility and during shift, night, and weekend duties, you will assume a responsible role. You can always rely on the professional support of an experienced team.

The location near the German border facilitates your entry into Switzerland. Whether you initially commute or arrive directly on site, furnished accommodation is available if required.

Your tasks:

• Independent performance of general and regional anaesthesia for elective and emergency procedures
• Anaesthesiological care of patients before, during, and after the procedure
• Assuming responsibility in clinical routine and within the duty system
• Participation in care in the operating theatre, delivery room, intensive care and emergency units, as well as during resuscitations
• Professional supervision and training of assistant doctors
• Close collaboration with surgical disciplines, nursing staff, and other professional groups
• Active involvement in the professional development of the department

Your competencies:

• Specialist title in anaesthesiology, recognised in Germany or the EU; support with recognition in Switzerland through Medimeo
• Initial specialist experience and confidence in general and regional anaesthesia
• Interest in your first senior consultant role – previous experience as a senior consultant is not required
• Willingness to participate in shift, night, and weekend duties
• Enjoyment in knowledge transfer and collaboration with younger colleagues
• Collegial personality with enthusiasm for interdisciplinary cooperation
• Good command of German, both spoken and written
