Job Description
Based on the University Act of 13 June 2008 which provides for the creation of independent bodies at the University of Geneva, the Council of State appoints the members of the Ethics and Deontology Committee (CED) for a period of 4 years, thus providing the rectorate with external experience and independent expertise. The Ethics and Deontology Committee is common to the University of Geneva and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland - Geneva (HES-SO Geneva). Its missions include proposing the ethical and deontological charter, giving its opinion on the ethical regulations of the University and the HES-SO, and promoting awareness of ethical and deontological principles among the Higher Education community.
It submits an annual report to the Council of State and the Grand Council.
The post holder's main mission is to work for the CED in collaboration with the Rector and the Secretary General. They ensure the follow-up of confidential files relating to academic, political and administrative matters, involving notably the following activities:
A. Preparation and management of files (support and assistance for the Committee Presidency)
B. Preparation and management of CED meetings, as well as participation in these meetings, practical organisation of these meetings (travel, meals, expenses, room management, …)
C. Participation in projects at the request of the presidency
D. Administration
Title and Required Skills
Basic education and professional experience required
- High school diploma or equivalent training
- University degree an asset
- 5 years professional experience, preferably in public administration, parliamentary experience would be an asset
Specific knowledge for the position
- Proven mastery of oral and written expression in French
- Knowledge of foreign languages: appreciated
- Knowledge of common office software
- Proven sense of confidentiality
- Diplomacy, interpersonal skills
- Appropriate behaviour towards contact publics
- Good organisational and planning skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritise
- Sense of coordination and collaborative approach
