About the job
Introduction
A leading international teaching and research institution, UNIL has nearly 5,000 staff members and 17,000 students, distributed between the Dorigny campus and the CHUV and Epalinges sites. As an employer, it promotes excellence, recognition of individuals, and responsibility.
Presentation
Supported by the Confederation, the NCCR or National Centres of Competence in Research (NCCR) encourage long-term research projects on themes of strategic importance for Switzerland. UNIL and ETH Zurich co-direct one of the six recently approved NCCRs.
GENESIS brings together more than 100 scientists from all regions of the country, combining biology, chemistry, astrophysics, Earth sciences, and planetary sciences. The scientific approach starts from the premise that the origin of life is not a sudden coincidence but a gradual process. Researchers study how planetary conditions allow the formation of functional biological systems from inanimate elements, ultimately leading to the emergence of living organisms.
Within the framework of this NCCR GENESIS project (funded over 12 years in 4-year phases), the Faculty of Geosciences and Environment (FGSE) is looking to complement its Lausanne office with a unit secretary at 90 or 100%.
