About the job
Living Diversity
As the largest social enterprise in the Basel area, we offer meaningful work, self-determined living, as well as comprehensive care and support at BSB (Bürgerspital Basel) with around 1,600 employees.
The Falkenstein care centre in the multicultural and lively Gundeldinger district provides a home for 86 elderly people. Both the living and care philosophy as well as the integration of a Mediterranean living group are unique.
Your Commitment
We are looking for a volunteer who enjoys playing chess for a resident of our facility. Our resident loves exciting games and looks forward to regular encounters at the chessboard.
The commitment involves weekly or biweekly sessions in the afternoon, each lasting about 1 hour.
Volunteering at BSB complements the professional full-time work but does not compete with it. It is of great importance for the quality of life of the people being cared for.
Your Profile
- Enjoyment of playing chess (hobby players are warmly welcome)
- Patience, appreciation, and empathy
- Reliability and commitment to agreed appointments
- Understanding of the needs of elderly people
- Willingness to adjust the pace of the game to the resident’s abilities
Your Benefits
- Volunteer engagement dossier
- Expense allowance
- Employer’s liability insurance
- Professional introduction and support by specialists
- Personal contact person for your questions and scheduling of assignments
- Further training and exchange of experience with other volunteers
Give this resident valuable time! Nirada Phongklom, HR Assistant and Volunteer Work Coordinator, looks forward to your contact by phone at +41 61 326 73 98 or by email at freiwilligenarbeit@bsb.ch.
