The Department of Community and Primary Care Medicine (DMCPR) has the societal mission to provide access to quality care for all through local medicine, to ensure the management of minor medical and surgical emergencies, to promote prevention among citizens, to provide medical knowledge for judicial investigations, and to promote the health of travellers.

The Primary Care Medicine Service (SMPR) provides outpatient care for adult patients within primary care medicine. This service also offers outpatient emergency medical services to the population. As part of the HUG’s general interest missions, it provides access to care for disadvantaged populations due to their age, social, economic, or legal status (asylum seekers, those subject to non-admission, undocumented persons, prisoners), or their lifestyle; if necessary, the primary care medicine service also ensures continuity of their care.

Job Description

As an assistant physician at the Community Medicine and Care Unit (UMSCOM), you assist the deputy unit head in carrying out and supervising clinical, academic, and administrative activities.

You contribute to the smooth running of the unit by helping to coordinate and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, composed of doctors, social workers, nurses, and secretaries.

You are committed to providing a dynamic and supportive working environment by valuing and developing your team’s skills. Through your leadership, you have the ability to unite your team around common goals and involve them in development, research, and institutional projects.

You contribute to improving the quality of UMSCOM’s services, particularly patient care, through proposals and personal initiatives validated by management.

You have an ambition to academicise your position and actively contribute to scientific research in the field of health for disadvantaged people. You lead study projects, publish, and develop your unit’s academic expertise. You participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and work closely with management to design and deliver quality training.

Finally, as a specialist in the care of vulnerable patients, you represent the unit (UMSCOM), the service (SMPR), and the department (DMCPR) both within the HUG and to all external stakeholders.

Qualifications

You hold a federal medical diploma (or an equivalent title recognised by the Medical Professions Commission of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO)), a doctoral thesis in medicine (MD) or are in the process of obtaining one, a specialty title in general internal medicine, as well as training in public health. You possess the right to practise allowing you to work in the canton of Geneva.

You have several years of experience in community health, contributions to teaching, and scientific research activities.

You have experience in managing the care system for vulnerable patients within the HUG.

You can also demonstrate successful experience in supervision or team management.

For non-French speakers, a C1 level in spoken and written French is required.
