Job Description
Purpose of the Role
As Lead HSE, you are responsible for ensuring a high level of safety at the site. You ensure compliance with legal and internal HSE requirements and develop improvement and corrective measures in the areas of process and plant safety, occupational safety, environmental protection, construction site safety, fire protection, and explosion protection.
In addition to the HSE coordination team and HSE specialists, you are the direct contact person for the operation on operational HSE matters.
Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for all HSE activities at a chemical production site
- Maintenance and further development of the site-specific HSE management system
- Ensuring regulatory and internal HSE compliance, especially according to Swiss EHS legislation, SUVA requirements, cantonal authorities, as well as the Seveso/major accident ordinance
- Annual environmental reporting to cantonal and federal authorities
- KPI management and EHS reporting to site management and corporate organisation
- Risk management across all disciplines, especially process safety, explosion protection, occupational safety, occupational hygiene, fire protection, and construction site safety
- Maintenance and further development of the training and competence management system
- Responsibility for risk management in business continuity planning
- Leadership, coaching, and development of a team of safety and training specialists
- Responsibility for the site’s emergency organisation including incident command
- Interface with authorities, insurers, and external auditors
- Participation in the site management team
Qualifications
- Completed degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, process engineering, or a comparable field
- Completed training as a specialist in occupational safety and health protection or an equivalent qualification
- At least five years of professional experience in chemical production, technical support, or production operations
- Experience in leading risk analyses in chemical production
- Sound knowledge of HSE processes and standards in production
- Experience with safety and environmental regulations as well as dealing with authorities
- Ability to lead and influence with direct and indirect line responsibility
- Precise working style as well as entrepreneurial thinking and acting
- Very good German and English skills, both spoken and written
