About the job
Introduction
UNIL is a leading international teaching and research institution, with over 5,000 employees and 17,000 students split between its Dorigny campus, CHUV and Epalinges. As an employer, UNIL encourages excellence, individual recognition and responsibility.
Presentation
The Climate Geology Group at the Institute of Earth Sciences (ISTE), Faculty of Geosciences and Environment, University of Lausanne, invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position to lead an interdisciplinary project examining the links between weathering in arc–continent collisional orogens and carbon sequestration in marine sediments.
This project will investigate how the tectonic evolution of the Taiwan Orogen influences carbon burial in adjacent sedimentary basins. By resolving the mechanisms through which erosion of a collisional mountain belt drives carbon sequestration, the research will evaluate how the relative importance and efficiency of these pathways change through successive stages of orogenesis and sedimentary reorganization.
We seek a highly motivated candidate interested in interdisciplinary research at the crossroads of sedimentology, geochemistry, and (paleo)environmental reconstructions. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain and strengthen expertise in fieldwork and sediment geochemistry, including isotope geochemistry. Prior experience in one or more of these areas is essential.
The University of Lausanne and the Climate Geology Group are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment.
