About the job
At the Mettleneggen residential home, 25 residents with autism live and work. Most live together in groups of four.
All are affected by autism and intellectual disabilities and require individual care in many daytime situations. When the night watch arrives in the evening, the residents are already ready for bed. Some remain in the lounge listening to music. The night watch briefly meets most residents in the evening and bids them goodnight. During the night, most sleep well and only occasionally need support.
To complement the night watch team, we are looking immediately or by arrangement for a night watch for 4 nights per month each
Task:
- You will accompany 11 residents distributed across 3 residential groups from 20:45 to 7:45. The residents are aged between 26 and 61 years.
- Two residents also have epilepsy, both are very well controlled with medication. One resident requires an incontinence change during the night, another only in the early morning hours.
- Additionally, the night watch is responsible for the laundry of the 11 residents – so time is also spent in the laundry room or performing simple mending tasks during quiet nights.
We offer:
- The night watch team consists of 4 women. They are looking for an addition who can work flexibly on different weekdays and at weekends.
- The night watch team is very experienced. Collaboration with the day service during handover in the morning and evening is brief but very appreciative. The night team meets once a month for a planning meeting and to exchange experiences. Duty rosters are usually made 2-3 months in advance.
We are looking for:
- A night watch who can offer situational support during the night with a clear and calm presence. Someone who can accompany people who sometimes seek very unusual ways to relieve stress and anxiety.
- And it must be a night watch who, although working alone at night, recognises themselves as part of a night watch team and implements existing decisions and uniform regulations. They must also have a pragmatic side that can appreciate the positive aspects of simple tasks such as laundry. There will be quiet nights and demanding ones.
If this fits, the night watch could be a good foundation for someone wishing to build a second professional career with us. Other night watches in the team have chosen this combination as well.
Requirements:
- A specific professional qualification is not required
- Experience in care, support or nursing of people with disabilities or experience as a mother/father is highly desirable
- Willingness to work irregular shifts including weekends and public holidays
