We are looking for an enthusiastic, and highly motivated postdoctoral scientist to join our international-oriented and dynamic research team.
Responsibilities
- Development of project ideas, animal experimentation approval and grant writing
- Writing of peer-reviewed publications
- Performance of animal and in-vitro experiments
- Contribution to laboratory analyses
- Supervision of students (Master and doctoral degree)
- Teaching for veterinary students (Bachelor and Master level)
Requirements
- PhD degree in the field of animal science or veterinary medicine.
- Strong scientific knowledge base, scientific integrity, creativity, and a profound understanding of experimental design and data interpretation.
- Appropriate practical and theoretical skills in livestock physiology and biology in general are expected.
- Experience in animal experimentation (dairy cows, calves).
- Experience to in-vitro work (cell culture, organoid research) and laboratory analyses (molecular biology) would be advantageous.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and data analysis software (e.g., SAS).
- Experience in scientific publishing.
- Successful candidates can think independently, are willing to acquire new skills, and are good collaborators and communicators, as this is a team effort.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Language skills: German/French and English.

- The Veterinary Physiology group at the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Bern is an internationally recognized group with high impact research in the field of mammary gland physiology of dairy cows. Major research topics include the endocrine control of lactation, adaptation of metabolism and immune system. Furthermore, colostrum formation, transition dairy cow and neonatal calf health, and animal-technology interactions are core themes.
