Your tasks
We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer * who shapes and develops a scalable service architecture with a clear technical vision, leads and documents critical architectural decisions, and drives backend excellence in a dynamic startup team.

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable, event-driven, and microservices-based architectures with Node.js, Next.js, TypeScript, and Python.
• Build robust REST and GraphQL APIs that are efficient, secure, and well documented.
• Work closely with frontend, DevOps, and product management to develop innovative solutions and enable seamless product integrations.
• Automate tests & deployments to ensure the highest code quality and performance.
• Document architecture decisions and technological developments for transparency and knowledge transfer within the team.
• Support customers & partners with technical integration and provide professional assistance.

What you bring

Must-haves

• Several years of experience (at least 8 years) in backend development focusing on scalable architectures and performance (multi-resource management / scalable and event-driven)
• Expertise in developing and documenting RESTful and GraphQL APIs, passion for clean documentation, and solid knowledge of ADR best practices.
• Very good knowledge of Node.js, Next.js, TypeScript, and Python (Java is a plus).
• Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases.
• A good sense for software design, API architectures, and event-driven systems.
• Independent, solution-oriented working style and passion for technical excellence.
• Fluent German (at least C1) and English skills (at least C1).

Nice-to-have

• Knowledge of backend frameworks such as Firebase, Supabase, or AppWrite
• Understanding of AI software development like Copilot, Cursor, etc.
• Contact points in the healthcare sector are desirable.
• Initial experience with testing frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, Cypress, Playwright, Py-Test, or similar
• Familiarity with container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, or RabbitMQ for powerful and scalable backend processes.
