About the job
At the Department of Environmental Sciences (DUW) of the University of Basel, a position as a mechanic will become available in summer 2026. The position is embedded in various environmental science research groups of the department and contributes to the technical implementation of innovative research projects. The employment is initially limited to one year with the prospect of longer-term continuation.
Your Tasks
To complement our workshop team, we are looking for a committed individual with experience in the design and manufacture of equipment.
Your tasks include, among others:

- Development and production of new devices for environmental science research
- Material ordering
- Maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Carrying out repairs
- Work preparation (AVOR) in the workshop area
- Technical support for research groups and students
- Participation in field research work
Your Profile
You have a mechanical or electrical vocational training and bring specialised knowledge in electronics, mechanics, and prototype construction.
In addition, you are characterised by the following qualities:

- Interest in developing new solutions and devices
- Enjoy working independently as well as collaborating in a team
- Sense of responsibility and initiative
- Very good German skills
- Good English skills
