At the Lengg Clinic at the Swiss Epilepsy Centre in Zurich, we provide holistic support to children and adolescents with (suspected) epilepsy during their inpatient stay. Our hospital school enables them to continue their educational development even under challenging health conditions and creates stability, normality, and prospects.
As a teacher, you benefit from a great deal of freedom in shaping your teaching and workday. You can expect an attractive working environment in a green setting with views of Lake Zurich, as well as a committed and appreciative team.
Your tasks
- Individual teaching for children and adolescents during their hospital stay, even in complex health situations (planning, preparation, and follow-up)
- Flexible adaptation of learning content and support goals to medical, developmental, psychosocial, and educational conditions
- Ensuring educational continuity in close coordination with the home schools
- Advising parents, guardians, as well as teaching and specialist staff on dealing with epilepsy in everyday school life
- Close interdisciplinary collaboration with medicine, nursing, (neuro-)psychology, therapies, and social counselling
- Participation in ward rounds and case discussions as well as active involvement in holistic care
- Teaching in small groups or one-to-one settings (also directly at the hospital bed)
Your profile
- Completed training as a teacher (ideally with a special or remedial education focus) or degree in school-based remedial education
- Experience with or strong interest in individualised teaching in heterogeneous settings
- Enjoyment in working with children and adolescents aged 4 to 18 years
- Interest in educational work in the context of chronic illnesses
- Empathy and sensitivity in dealing with stressful life situations
- High flexibility, independence, and organisational skills
