The social and peer counselling service provides comprehensive support to people with spinal cord injuries in all regions of the country. Consultations take place at our location in Nottwil, partly in clinics, at clients' homes, or by telephone. We advise on questions regarding social insurance, finances, housing situation, employment, or personal matters. To expand our Social Work team, we are looking for an empathetic and professionally skilled individual.

These are your tasks

• Psychosocial counselling and support for people with spinal cord injuries or similar diagnoses and their relatives
• Clarification of entitlements in the area of social insurance and ensuring economic livelihood
• Support in the preparation and submission of applications to social insurance and foundations
• Accompaniment in challenging life situations and change processes (e.g. career reorientation, separation, transition to retirement age)
• Promotion of clients’ autonomy
• Interdisciplinary collaboration with involved agencies and partner organisations
• Writing specialist articles for our own media

• You have completed training in Social Work FH/BSc with relevant professional experience
• You bring sound knowledge in the field of social insurance
• You organise your work flexibly and independently – also in private settings at clients’ homes
• You enjoy contributing your knowledge and experience to projects
• Your German is fluent and stylistically confident; knowledge of French and/or English is an advantage
• You appreciate working in an interdisciplinary team

About us

Founded in 1980, the Swiss Paraplegic Association (SPA) is the national umbrella organisation for people with spinal cord injuries with around 11,000 members. It promotes, represents, and coordinates the concerns of paraplegics and tetraplegics as well as other members throughout Switzerland. It also supports 27 regional wheelchair clubs across the country. The approximately 80 permanent employees and 170 freelancers, as well as more than 2,000 volunteers and honorary workers, are committed to the social, political, and personal concerns of the members and engage in their reintegration and the improvement of their quality of life. The range of services includes the Institute for Legal Advice, Wheelchair Sports and Leisure (promotion of elite and grassroots sports, as well as its own travel agency), the Centre for Barrier-Free Building, and the Life Counselling division. The SPA also publishes the members’ magazine Paracontact and two newsletters.
