Correctional Services Management 80 - 100%With around 1400 employees, the Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is the largest office within the Directorate of Justice and Home Affairs and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. Our employees from around 40 professions support and promote the reintegration of offenders and are committed effectively and progressively to a safe and just society.
The Zurich Remand Prisons (UGZ) are one of eight main departments of JuWe. They comprise seven facilities with around 735 prison places and about 500 employees. They are responsible for provisional detention, investigative and security custody, as well as early penal and measure enforcement until transfer to a correctional facility. Thus, they fulfil a central function within the Zurich justice system from the outset.
As part of the UGZ, Dielsdorf Prison specialises in the accommodation of women and has 57 detention places. In addition to a department for remand custody, it includes a department for the enforcement of short and substitute custodial sentences. Women with their young children up to around 18 months old can also be accommodated.
For the management of the Enforcement and Remand Custody departments, we are looking for a strong leadership and development-oriented personality. You know how to support employees, take responsibility, and together with your team, shape a professional and secure daily enforcement routine.
This is your field of activity
- You lead the Enforcement and Remand Custody areas with around 18 employees and work closely with the two team leaders and the deputy prison management
- A legally compliant, dignified, and orderly enforcement of the various forms of detention is at the centre of your responsibility
- For a safe and smooth daily operation, you further develop security standards and ensure their compliance
- As a central contact person, you keep an eye on the concerns of the detained persons as well as admissions, discharges, and releases
- Together with the interprofessional care team, you handle complex cases and help shape a development-oriented remand custody
- You promote the professional development of your team, accompany new employees, and contribute to projects and strategic topics
- In emergency situations, you take over coordination and responsibility; additionally, you provide telephone on-call services at night as well as on weekends and public holidays
Your profile
- You have a federal vocational certificate (EFZ) or an equivalent qualification – ideally complemented by the specialist certificate as Correctional Services Officer
- Several years of professional and leadership experience as well as further training in personnel management form your professional basis
- You are experienced in dealing with psychologically stressed persons and approach them confidently and professionally
- Even when it gets demanding, you keep a cool head, lead clearly, and act with conflict and de-escalation strength
- You communicate very well in German, have good knowledge of a foreign language, and are confident in the relevant IT, radio, and control centre systems
- Social competence, relational ability, and healthy boundaries naturally belong together for you
- An impeccable reputation and a minimum age of 30 years complete your profile
