For one of our clients, a global pioneer in pharmaceuticals, we are currently looking for a Building Safety Officer.
General Information:
- Start date: 01.02.2026
- Latest possible start date: 01.03.2026
- Duration: 1 year with the possibility of extension, the project is planned until 30th June 2029
- Permanent transfer to the operator is possible
- Workplace: Basel
- Workload: 100%
- Working hours: Initial - Standard / potential switch to 2-shift possible
- Department: CAPEX BSL/KAU (MMTAK)
About the job:
SMF Project, refurbishment of a chemical production building. Interface between project and operational activities. Issuance of work permits and monitoring of compliance with the protective measures described therein. Support of and relief for the building safety team.
Your Profile:
- Extensive experience with large-scale construction projects and production facilities in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, confidently managing interactions with clients and contractors.
- Open, communicative, and a strong team player, while being assertive, persistent, and reliable, maintaining a critical and inquisitive mindset as well as composure and oversight even in hectic situations.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Interface between construction site and operator
- Support for the existing SHE organization (operator)
- Issuing work permits to contractors
- Monitoring compliance with relevant safety regulations
- Participation in coordination and construction meetings
- Safety inspections as needed
Must-Haves:
- Chemical technician with training as safety assistant or safety specialist (EKAS) or occupational safety and health specialist (ASGS) or at least the willingness to attend relevant courses and training programs
- Solid seniority and assertiveness, conflict resolution skills
- Basic knowledge of construction site safety and SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment)
- Experience with production facilities in the chemical / pharmaceutical sector
- MS Office, Outlook, Google
- Fluent German, French or other languages would be advantageous

- Leadership qualities and experience
- Independent, meticulous work style with a quick grasp of new concepts
- Ability to intervene decisively and responsibly in hazardous situations and, if necessary, to stop work to
ensure safety - Experience with construction sites (interaction with client and contractors) would be very advantageous
