Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Educator at the USPFM of SUPEA

The University Service of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (SUPEA) is seeking a child and adolescent psychiatric educator at an activity rate of 80% to 90%, on a permanent contract, to strengthen the team of the Closed Psychiatric Care Unit for Minors (USPFM). The starting date is scheduled for 1 December 2026 or to be agreed.

Context

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.

The Department of Psychiatry (DP) consists of ten services and about sixty units spread across the Centre, North, and West sectors of the canton. It provides care for patients of all ages suffering from mental disorders.

The University Service of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (SUPEA) serves as a reference centre for psychiatric care for children and adolescents in the Lausanne region and the canton of Vaud.

Located on the Cery site in Prilly, the Closed Psychiatric Care Unit for Minors (USPFM) has 8 beds and admits minors suffering from psychological distress and at risk in their development, under protective measures ordered by the justice system. It offers medical, psychosocial, educational, and pedagogical care aimed at rehabilitation during long-term placement, in close collaboration with network partners. The unit is co-managed by SUPEA and the General Directorate of Childhood and Youth (DGEJ) of the Canton of Vaud.

Mission

• You identify, plan, implement, and evaluate the socio-educational support of patients, in close collaboration with the medical-psychological team
• You implement appropriate socio-educational actions and ensure their follow-up in accordance with the unit's concept
• You act as a referent and support patients and their relatives, particularly in preparing for discharge
• You contribute to the organisation and continuity of the unit's activities, ensuring quality communication, coordination, and professional documentation within the interprofessional team and the network
• You develop and carry out actions promoting the autonomy and social integration of minors in a suitable environment
• You contribute to the continuous improvement of socio-educational practices, notably based on scientific data, and develop your self-assessment and learning skills.

Profile

• You hold a Bachelor of Arts HES-SO in social work or an equivalent qualification; for foreign diplomas, SEFRI recognition is mandatory
• You have a specialisation in psychiatry; clinical knowledge in adolescent psychopathology is an asset
• You have experience in socio-educational accommodation and support of adolescents
• You know how to create a climate of trust with patients and their relatives and demonstrate listening skills and excellent communication abilities
• You have good analytical and synthesis skills and show helpfulness, collaboration, openness, and flexibility
• You can manage demanding situations and maintain your ability to act under pressure
• You are available to work irregular hours, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
