The Department of Archaeology and Monument Preservation at the Office for Spatial Development protects and documents cultural assets from all eras and is committed to ensuring that the canton of Zurich can preserve its archaeological and architectural heritage and pass it on to future generations.
As of December 1, 2025, or by agreement, we are looking for a professionally competent and committed person to lead the practical monument preservation of the canton of Zurich.

Tasks
- Management of the construction consulting area and member of the executive management
- Co-development and ongoing strategic review of the department's orientation
- Negotiating and advising on complex projects
- Contributing expertise to overarching planning and construction tasks such as PBG revision, usage studies, competition procedures, etc.
- Use and application of legal instruments and procedures for interest determination and balancing
Profile
- Completed studies in architecture or art history, with postgraduate diploma in monument preservation or comparable education
- Several years of experience in monument preservation practice and personnel management
- Experience in administrative processes as well as process and project management
- High social competence and convincing appearance
- Strong sense of political and social framework conditions as well as careful handling of personnel and financial resources
