In the research focus on Aesthetics, located in the Department of Cultural Analysis and Mediation, a dialogue takes place between philosophical aesthetic theory formation and perspectives from various art-related sciences as well as practical perspectives in the arts.
For the research focus on Aesthetics, we are looking for a: Research Associate starting November 1, 2025, for a duration of three years.
Research Associate, 50%
with the following focuses: Art Philosophy/Production Aesthetics/Theories of Artistic Action/Theories of Aesthetic Action in the context of general action theory as well as the history and current theories of Aesthetics and Ethics and their interrelation.
The position comprises a workload of 50% and includes participation in the research focus on Aesthetics (25%) including teaching in the Minor Critical Thinking as well as working on one's own doctoral project (25%). The doctoral project is to be integrated into the Zurich doctoral program "Ethics Arts Politics" (formerly "Epistemologies of Aesthetic Practices") and will be co-supervised there.
The possibility of jointly submitting an SNF application to increase the position within the framework of one's own research is given.
For this diverse position, we are looking for an initiative and committed personality from philosophy and related fields with strong organizational skills and team spirit.
A completed master’s degree and a research project within the framework of a qualification phase of the doctorate are required.
The employment conditions are based on the cantonal personnel legislation.
