Your Tasks
Appeal Procedures: You instruct appeal procedures and draft appeal decisions within the area of responsibility of the head of department (mainly immigration law and road traffic law). You also prepare statements for judicial instances.
Legal Clarifications and Legal Advice: You participate in diverse legal clarifications and advise the departments and offices on various legal issues.
Broadening Horizons: To expand your expertise, you take part in the weekly team meeting and maintain professional exchange within the team. Where possible, you will have the opportunity to accompany team members to court hearings. You will also get to know the individual areas of the JSD better through personal visits and events.
Your Profile
Experience: You have good general knowledge of public law and are motivated to apply the skills acquired during your studies or initial professional experience.
Personality: You are interested in new legal issues and enjoy working independently and precisely. With your collegial manner, you integrate into the existing team and appreciate professional exchange.
Education: We expect a completed Master of Law degree (MLaw).
Language: You have very good oral and written communication skills.
Insight into Our Work
The General Secretariat is the central hub of the Department of Justice and Security Basel-Stadt. It comprehensively supports the head of department in leadership and management tasks and significantly contributes to the implementation of the department's strategic goals. It is responsible for smooth political business processing as well as internal and external communication. Furthermore, it provides central cross-sectional services in the areas of legal services, finance, personnel, IT, procurement, and facility management, thus supporting the operational areas of the department. The specialist offices "Swisslos Fund" and "Violence Protection and Victim Support" are also located within the General Secretariat.
