We conduct cell, tissue, and organ culture experiments in 2D and 3D.
The group has specialized knowledge in the field of the musculoskeletal system, i.e. bone cells, ligament cells, or intervertebral disc cells. The group possesses special bioreactors that allow mechanical loading either in compression or tension. Evaluations are usually carried out using qPCR and various tests to measure extracellular matrix, cell viability, cell activity, and stress, for example through NO production.
- You develop and conduct molecular biological investigations for our "mechano-biological" cell and tissue culture.
- You support master's students and doctoral candidates in successfully carrying out their projects at our institute.
- You are jointly responsible for maintaining quality standards.
- You assist in teaching during the internship and maintain the laboratory equipment.
- You independently carry out versatile laboratory work and also work independently on projects.
- You assist in the procurement of chemicals / laboratory maintenance (Class 2 Biosafety)
- You are jointly responsible for chemical safety in the laboratory.
Requirements
You have completed a molecular biology, biochemistry, or medical-technical training and possess a quick grasp to familiarize yourself with a diverse and responsible task in a short time. You enjoy working with master's students and doctoral candidates.
Since the institute is very internationally oriented, good English skills are required. Experience with molecular biological methods such as real-time RT-PCR, Western Blot, and/or in histology/microscopy would be very desirable, but is not a condition.
Experience with animal experiments and the LTK1 course would also be very desirable, but is not a condition.
