For the Paul Scherrer Institute, the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland, we are looking for a committed and experienced personality who will strategically and operationally shape and further develop purchasing. In this versatile role, you will take responsibility for leading purchasing, maintaining partnership-based supplier relationships, and managing central procurement projects. Together with a cooperative, open team, you will actively contribute to making the organization's procurement processes efficient, transparent, and sustainable.
Your tasks
- Leading the purchasing group and managing the team on a professional, personnel, and organizational level
- Developing and further developing the procurement strategy, governance, and all procurement-relevant processes
- Leading complex procurement projects for capital goods and services in collaboration with research and specialist departments
- Further development and digitalization of purchasing processes with a focus on user-friendliness and internal customer satisfaction
- Conducting central procurements including requirements clarification, market analyses, and tenders according to BÖB/VÖB in German and English
- Sustainable and partnership-based collaboration with selected key suppliers
Your profile
- Ideally a technical or business university degree (e.g., electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering), alternatively a completed commercial or technical basic education (EFZ) and many years of purchasing experience
- Further training with a focus on purchasing (e.g., federally certified purchasing manager) or supply chain management (e.g., MAS SCM)
- Several years of experience in operational and strategic purchasing, ideally in the public or regulated environment
- Several years of experience in leading complex projects and managing employees, ideally in a matrix organization
- Entrepreneurial thinking and ability to critically question structures and implement innovative solutions
- Assertiveness and confident appearance towards internal and external stakeholders
- Native German speaker with solid English skills (B2/C1)
