Building Department Canton of Zurich
Clerk Building Police in the Road Inspectorate
The Canton of Zurich is constantly evolving. New construction projects along state roads bring different interests and challenges. At the Civil Engineering Office (TBA), we assess construction projects, provide clarity on access, and ensure that the development of our canton is compatible with the requirements for a safe and functional state road infrastructure.
Your tasks
You independently review and assess building applications with regard to road law requirements as well as access, installation, and surrounding plans. You participate in design and neighbourhood plans as well as other spatial planning procedures. In addition, you advise builders, planners, and authorities, prepare technical statements, and support the Head of Road Region with special issues and clarifications.
Your profile
You have completed a technical basic education, preferably as a construction draughtsperson or in a comparable field, and bring knowledge in construction and planning. You are interested in legal and normative requirements and can confidently read and assess technical plans. You work independently, responsibly, and carefully, possess analytical thinking skills, and convince through your communication skills as well as good written and oral expression.
Our offer
- Varied and responsible activity at the interface between construction, law, and traffic safety
- High personal responsibility and independent work
- Diverse exchange with builders, planners, municipalities, and other specialist offices
- Close professional cooperation with the legal service and the building police clerks of the other road regions
- Collegial team with mutual support, short decision-making paths, and direct exchange with the Head of Road Region

Dear recruitment agencies! Unfortunately, we cannot consider applications associated with fee demands. Only direct applications will be answered and considered in the selection process.
About us
Roundabout or traffic light? Cycle path or cycle lane? More trees and less sealing. Bus priority and safe pedestrian paths. Speed 50 or speed 30? We deal with such topics daily and provide answers. At the Civil Engineering Office (TBA), we shape the future face of the Canton of Zurich.
If you associate us with a complicated, dusty administration, you are mistaken. We work collegially, straightforwardly, and performance-oriented. Flexible working hours and mobile working are as natural to us as the opportunity to develop professionally and personally.
