The German School of Geneva (DSG) offers a complete educational pathway, from kindergarten to the German International Baccalaureate (Deutsches Internationales Abitur). It also provides German courses for children and adolescents and is an official examination centre of the Goethe-Institut.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a part-time (50%) IT Manager (M/F/X), starting from the 2026/2027 school year.
Job Description
By creating this position, DSG aims to sustainably internalise the operational IT management, digitisation, and development of its system environment. An external IT service provider will continue to intervene for certain clearly defined specialised tasks and as support when needed.
As the point of contact for all IT-related questions, you ensure a secure, economical, and future-oriented operation of the digital infrastructure.
Your Responsibilities
Operation and Development of the IT Infrastructure
You ensure the reliable operation of the IT infrastructure and continuously develop it. This notably includes:
- Administration and development of the network infrastructure and firewalls as well as implementation of security directives
- Ensuring the backup and data restoration strategy (local and cloud backups)
- Administration of Microsoft 365, user accounts, licences, and access rights
- Management of Apple/iPad devices and other terminals as well as device security
- Management and updating of documentation related to the entire IT environment
Support and Service
You assist staff and teachers with their technical questions and ensure effective IT service. This includes:
- First and second level support
- Installation and provision of hardware and software
- Management of workstations, printers, and mobile devices
- Integration of new employees
Digitisation and Project Management
You lead the school's digitisation projects and continuously develop the digital infrastructure in collaboration with the school management and administrative leadership. Key tasks include:
- Support and development of the school's internal software tools
- Integration and optimisation of digital school processes
- Evaluation and introduction of new software solutions
- Planning, management, and documentation of IT projects
- Development of decision-making bases for the administrative management and the executive committee
Management of External Service Providers
You coordinate collaboration with external IT partners and ensure effective use of agreed services. This notably includes:
- Prioritisation and escalation of support requests
- Management of the agreed hourly quota
- Management of suppliers (hardware, software, and licences)
Your Profile
You are an autonomous, committed, and versatile generalist IT professional with a solid technical background and an appreciation for responsibility.
Technical Skills
You have strong knowledge in several of the following areas:
- Microsoft 365 administration
- Network administration
- Firewall management
- IT security and IT infrastructures for medium-sized companies
- Backup and recovery strategies
- Workstation management (Endpoint Management)
- Management of Apple and iPad environments
- Documentation of IT infrastructures
Experience with the following solutions is an advantage:
- Classe365 / WebUntis
- Sophos
- 3CX or any other comparable VoIP telephony system
Professional Experience
You have several years of experience in a similar role, as a generalist IT professional or systems administrator.
You work independently, in a structured and solution-oriented manner, while remaining calm in demanding situations.
