Job description:
The postgraduate training for expert intensive care nurse aims to acquire nursing skills in the field of intensive care to:
- Understand all complex care situations involving or not the patient’s vital prognosis
- Respond to these situations with appropriate care
The acquisition of these skills requires specialised training lasting 2 years while employed, based on the concept of alternating theory and practice. These skills are developed at CHUV or HUG for theoretical courses. Practical placements are divided between GHOL, HUG or CHUV.
The nurse in postgraduate training works in the intensive care unit in close collaboration with the nursing and medical teams of the intensive care units at GHOL, HUG or CHUV.
Required profile:

Level of training:
- Bachelor HES-SO in nursing required, or equivalent diploma recognised by the Swiss Red Cross.
- Valid BLS-AED (<2 years)
- Minimum 1 year experience in the intensive care unit
