Employment: limited term of three years - after three years, depending on further funding.
PrecisionLab, led by Prof. Jose Garcia-Tirado, aims to develop new technology for managing diabetes and metabolic disorders through novel digital interventions such as advanced decision-support tools and automated insulin delivery.
Job purpose and responsibilities
You work primarily on identifying the mathematical structure and parameters of a compartmental model describing the pharmacokinetic (PK)/pharmacodynamic (PD) of novel incretin medications used for glucose control and body weight reduction in people with type 2 diabetes. Specifically:
- Review the literature to understand the physiology mechanisms of action of these medications
- Propose different mathematical structures describing the PK of a selected medication candidate and test them in simulation
- Carry out the identification of the model parameter distributions using data from the literature
Requirements
A Must:
- Master student in pharmacy, biomedical engineering, or a close field
- Previous experience in identifying PK/PD models for drugs or biomarkers
- Previous experience in computer programming (Matlab, Python, or similar)
We offer
- We provide excellent scientific expertise in a dynamic environment and support a career focusing on translational research
