Job Description

We are looking for a Supplier Quality Manager to guarantee and improve the quality of products, components, and services provided by our suppliers. You will be involved throughout the supplier cycle, from feasibility analysis to production follow-up, including audits and quality issue management.

In close collaboration with Purchasing, Quality, Production, the Technical Office, and Logistics, you will anticipate risks, resolve non-conformities, and secure supplies. You will thus contribute to controlling quality, costs, and deadlines, while developing a constructive and demanding relationship with our suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Feasibility analysis: assess suppliers’ ability to meet technical, quality, deadline, and volume requirements. Identify risks upstream and propose measures to secure orders and new product launches.
• Production follow-up at suppliers: conduct visits and inspections when necessary, anticipate deviations, and collaborate with Purchasing and Logistics to secure supplies.
• Management of supplier and subcontractor quality issues: act as the Sottas reference for handling supplier non-conformities. Analyse root causes, coordinate the implementation of corrective and preventive actions, verify their effectiveness, and ensure problem resolution, especially when risks to production or sites are involved.
• Performance and continuous improvement: monitor the quality performance of strategic suppliers, identify risks and intervention priorities, contribute to reducing non-quality costs, and develop a Supplier Quality dashboard to improve monitoring and management.
• Quality and safety on sites: provide your expertise during quality and safety audits when suppliers or subcontractors are involved. Maintain links with them, contribute to resolving discrepancies, and capitalise on feedback.
• Qualification of new suppliers: participate in the evaluation and qualification of new suppliers or alternatives when necessary to meet Sottas’ needs.
• Supplier audits: plan and conduct supplier and process audits according to identified risks. Evaluate process control, identify gaps, and follow up on action plans to sustainably improve supplier quality.

Qualifications

You are a rigorous, analytical, and solution-oriented person with good interpersonal skills. Autonomous and proactive, you know how to firmly uphold quality requirements while maintaining constructive relationships with suppliers. You enjoy fieldwork and are willing to travel regularly to suppliers.

The following skills are required:

• A higher technical education in a field of metal construction, industrial, mechanical, metallurgy, or equivalent
• Experience in industrial quality and/or supplier quality
• Availability for regular travel to suppliers, in Switzerland and abroad
• Experience in conducting process audits and resolving quality issues
• Good understanding of industrial and manufacturing processes
• Good knowledge of problem analysis and resolution methods, notably 8D, 5 Why, and Ishikawa
• Knowledge of the PPAP process is an asset
• Comfort with IT tools and data analysis
• Good command of English; German is an asset
• Strong analytical, organisational, and priority management skills
• A keen sense of responsibility, collaboration, and internal customer orientation
• Good communication skills with technical and operational contacts
• Autonomy, responsiveness, and the ability to make decisions and escalate critical issues
• Availability for travel to suppliers and sites
