The Road and Events section plays an essential role in the life of Sion. Nearly 100 collaborators, distributed among several specialised teams, work daily to keep the city welcoming, functional, and safe.

From road and watercourse maintenance to infrastructure management, including snow clearance and event logistics, their activities are as varied as they are indispensable to the smooth running of the community.

Following the retirement of the incumbent, the City of Sion is advertising a position of

Road Maintenance Worker M/F 80-100%

within the Public Works and Environment Department, Road and Events section.

Main missions

Within the rural engineering team, you will mainly be responsible for the following tasks:

• Maintenance and mowing of torrents and irrigation channels;
• Maintenance of road shoulders and embankments;
• Maintenance of technical infrastructures;
• Works related to urban sanitation.

As needed, you will also be called upon to support other teams in the section, notably for:

• Assembly and disassembly of installations during events;
• Driving the street sweeper;
• Cleaning, salting, and snow clearance of roads and pavements.

Employment conditions

• Basic training in the technical field;
• Possession of a driving licence (category B mandatory);
• Category C driving licence is an asset;
• M1–M3 machine operator licences are also an asset;
• Initiative, service-mindedness, good ability to work in a team or independently;
• Good physical condition;
• Availability for irregular hours, including weekends.
