Trainee within Risk Modelling
Job Description
We are looking for a highly qualified, motivated and enthusiastic candidate who is interested in contributing to our Risk Modelling Department. The department is responsible for developing SCOR’s Internal Model for the Group and local entities. During the traineeship, you will be assigned specific tasks related to Internal Model development. You will work closely with experienced risk modellers and collaborate with stakeholders across different departments, gaining a broad understanding of various processes and projects within SCOR, a truly global reinsurer and the 5th largest reinsurer worldwide.
Responsibilities
Key features of the Graduate Trainee opportunity
- Fixed-term contract of 12 months, with a start date as soon as possible.
- Python-based model implementation, methodology development and analytical work, under the supervision of a trainee mentor.
- Support and perform model change impact assessments and testing.
- Structured on-the-job training, including an introduction to reinsurance, internal processes and networking opportunities.
Qualifications
- Above-average university degree (Master, PhD) in Engineering, IT, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Physics, Actuarial Sciences or similar
- Good programming skills, preferably in Python, with interest in software engineering best practices
- Familiarity with basic concepts of risk modelling, statistics and quantitative finance is an advantage
- Prior experience with version control systems such as Git is an advantage
- Exposure to AI-assisted software development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot or similar tools) is an advantage
- Strong conceptual and analytical capabilities, with the ability to approach tasks in a structured, goal-oriented, and independent manner
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English, knowledge of French or German is an advantage
- Global mindset, collaborative attitude and strong willingness to continuously learn and develop in an international environment
