About the job
Competently manage mental health crises and enjoy your evenings in Basel: As a senior consultant, you bear medical responsibility on a modern acute crisis intervention ward and work within a multiprofessional team.
Some patients arrive in the middle of the night, others after weeks when nothing else worked. Here they come to people like you, who are experienced in acute crises: in a dedicated crisis intervention unit, with its own chief consultant and in a facility built specifically for this purpose.
Those who arrive very ill are closely supported on the acute ward with integrated intensive care. As they improve, no one needs to change clinics. Treatment continues in the day clinic, outpatient setting, or at the patients’ homes, all within the same department. You therefore not only experience the most difficult moment but also keep sight of the path afterwards.
And after work? The job is in the Basel region. Those who prefer city living can reach Basel by train within 10 minutes. In summer, you can drift along the Rhine after work, and with the tram you are in Weil am Rhein in about ten minutes, already in Germany.
Your responsibilities:
- You bear senior medical responsibility for the diagnosis and treatment of patients in acute mental health crises
- You clinically assess patients, determine indications, and plan and review therapy, including transition to day clinic, outpatient, or outreach follow-up care
- You supervise and train junior doctors and psychologists
- You work closely with nursing, therapies, social work, and relatives
- You further develop treatment concepts together with your superiors and the team
Your qualifications:
- Specialist qualification in psychiatry and psychotherapy – already obtained or within reach
- Ideally experience in acute psychiatry or crisis intervention and calmness even in tense situations
- Enjoyment of multiprofessional collaboration, an independent, well-organised and responsible working style
- High-level German language skills
- Foreign diploma? You will be supported organisationally and financially by us in obtaining your MEBEKO approval
Your benefits:
- Workload from 80%: more time for leisure, sport and friends
- Lots of free time: 25 days holiday, two additional days off after the third year of service, plus eleven public holidays per year
- City within reach: Basel in about 15 minutes by S-Bahn; live in the city and commute comfortably
- Clear salary: 13 monthly salaries in a transparent pay system with defined salary bands
- Professional support: own chief consultant leadership for crisis intervention and a multiprofessional team sharing responsibility
- Modern workplace: new building on a green campus, well accessible by public transport, car park on site
