As part of the preventive environment, the Situation and Intelligence Centre acts as a competence centre in situation management. This includes the procurement of information, its evaluation, and the targeted dissemination of relevant assessments to internal and external bodies.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for an
Intern at the Situation and Intelligence Centre with a Focus on Data Science (m/f/d)
Starting: 01.10.2026 or by arrangement
Workload: 80-100%
Workplace: St. Gallen
What to expect
- Maintenance and further development of data pipelines (from collection to visualisation)
- Development of datasets and models for interactive reports and dashboards up to comprehensive decision support systems (DSS)
- Presentation of time series, trends, and possible developments including evaluation and analysis of topic- and event-based data
- Participation in planning groups and contribution of your own expertise
- Optimisation of our data ecosystem (architecture, performance & usability) and documentation of smooth operational handover
What distinguishes you
- Studies related to the preparation and evaluation of data and/or simulations (e.g. Information Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Big Data, Business Intelligence, Industrial Engineering with a focus on data analysis, etc.)
- Or other education or training with a strong interest in working in the security sector or in police activities combined with pronounced technical understanding
- Ideally knowledge of workflow software, pipeline and analysis tools as well as proficient use of Linux, Docker, and Git
- Enjoyment in improving workflows
- High self-motivation and independence
