Your tasks
You are primarily responsible for the monthly closing of the Swiss and US companies. You ensure correct and timely reporting to the group, as well as a high-quality posting of all business transactions and the reconciliation and control of all balance sheet accounts. You take responsibility for complex business transactions and the valuation of balance sheet items (inventory, FX, receivables, provisions, etc.). You check and submit the prepared VAT returns and coordinate all VAT-related issues with the authorities, tax consultants, and internal departments in consultation with the Director Finance & Accounting. You coordinate the fixed asset and inventory stocktaking with the departments.
Main responsibility for the monthly closing in the reporting tool COGNOS as well as via flat file in Miele Tagetik
Independent preparation and posting of accrued income and expenses
Monitoring and control of liquidity planning (cash planning)
Control of fixed asset accounting and ensuring timely activation of incoming invoices
Monthly review and support in the area of VAT (CH, DE, SI) including checking all transactions for accuracy according to internal guidelines and performing sales reconciliation
Preparation of sales and use tax returns for the US company, including reconciliation with SAP and maintenance of exemption certificates in the Avalara system
Participation in the preparation of annual reports, 1099, property tax, franchise tax, and preparation of corporate income tax
Function as an internal contact person for tax issues related to the SteelcoBelimed and Miele groups
Development of inventory guidelines, active participation in inventories, and preparation and plausibility check of inventory reports including analysis of deviations
Responsibility for posting payroll and benefits, monthly accruals, and plausibility checks of vacation and working hours in cooperation with HR; annual reconciliation of AHV, EO, KTG, and NBU contributions
Support of the Director Finance & Accounting in daily business as well as in monthly and annual closing activities
Your profile
Completed commercial basic training
Finance and accounting specialist with a federal diploma or bachelor’s degree with a focus on finance & accounting
Very good accounting knowledge in the area of monthly closing, fixed asset accounting, and VAT
Relevant practical experience in finance in a medium-sized SME (>50 employees)
Practical experience in finance in a manufacturing company, preferably plant/machine engineering
SAP FI R/3 knowledge is mandatory
Good analytical skills, confident handling of Microsoft Excel
Understanding of complex processes in the company
Enjoy working in an international environment
Independent and precise working style / high reliability / team-oriented behavior / resilience
Fluent German skills in spoken and written form as well as very good English skills
