About the job
Do you want to shape rather than just manage? As Psychiatry Department Manager, you will take on a central leadership and management role from 1 November 2026 or by arrangement. Together with the medical and nursing management, you will further develop the Psychiatric Services, lead the administration, and ensure an economically sustainable and professional organisation. In doing so, you combine business management thinking with a strong understanding of people and the particularities of psychiatry.
The Psychiatric Services consist of the Breitenau Psychiatric Centre, the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Service, and HeGeBe, and together with the Cantonal Hospital, they form one of several locations of the Schaffhausen Hospitals. The Breitenau Psychiatric Centre in the Breite district of Schaffhausen comprises the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy with its inpatient, day clinic, and outpatient treatment services as well as long-term psychiatry.
What to expect
- You will manage the commercial and administrative matters of the Psychiatric Services and actively shape their further development.
- Together with the medical and nursing management, you will influence the operational and organisational development of psychiatry.
- You will be responsible for budget, forecasts, cost management, and reporting, creating transparency about the economic development.
- You will support the medical and nursing management in business, administrative, and financial matters.
- You will work closely with HR, finance, controlling, and other central hospital departments.
- You will identify optimisation potentials and continuously develop administrative and organisational processes.
- You will contribute to strategic, structural, and organisational developments as well as investment and business case decisions.
What you bring to advance us
- You have a solid business management education and bring experience in finance, controlling, and corporate management.
- You have experience in leading and developing employees and know how to motivate people towards common goals.
- Ideally, you are familiar with the structures and challenges of a hospital or the healthcare sector.
- You recognise connections, think ahead, and derive concrete recommendations for action from figures and analyses.
- You want not only to manage but actively develop processes, structures, and the organisation.
- You communicate clearly and appropriately for the audience and are confident in interacting with different professional groups and management levels.
- Even with complex topics, you keep an overview, set priorities, and find pragmatic solutions.
