The Justice of the Peace is the Authority for the protection of children and adults. As such, it acts on request or ex officio. At the end of the investigation, a decision is made whether or not to establish a protection measure. The Justice of the Peace also has jurisdiction in matters of inheritance, placements for assistance purposes, and in the area of bans.
