Responsibilities
Leadership: You are responsible for the professional and personnel management of a specialised unit within a division of the Criminal Police with approximately seven to eleven employees. You regularly provide criminal police on-call service.
Interfaces: You work closely with the division management of the Criminal Police, the Basel-Stadt Cantonal Police, and also with the public prosecutors of the General Department of the Basel-Stadt Public Prosecutor's Office who prosecute these cases, as well as with other internal and external agencies.
Investigation: You lead your own specialised unit and, if necessary, cross-disciplinary investigative teams, occasionally conduct interrogations, and guide employees in difficult and complex cases.
Profile
Experience: This role requires several years of leadership experience in the field of criminal police as well as very good knowledge of criminal and criminal procedural law.
Personality: You have a quick grasp, work in a structured and analytical manner, recognise priorities, possess solid social skills, and are highly resilient.
Education: You hold a professional certificate or a police officer certificate. You have completed at least SPI FLG 1 and are willing to attend further advanced specialist and personnel management courses.
Language: You communicate fluently, factually, and appropriately for the audience both orally and in writing with various internal and external persons and agencies.

The Basel-Stadt Public Prosecutor's Office, which is administratively attached to the Department of Justice and Security, conducts criminal proceedings for crimes, offences, and violations. It brings charges and represents the prosecution, issues penalty orders as well as other final decisions such as dismissal, suspension, non-prosecution, or transfer. Additionally, the Public Prosecutor's Office provides both national and international legal assistance in criminal matters. These tasks are central to the administration of justice and the safety of the people in Basel-Stadt and beyond.
