About the job
Join a school where animation is practiced as much as it is taught
EPAC is looking for a lecturer in 2D and 3D animation to join its teaching team from
26 October 2026.
We are primarily seeking a creative, dynamic and curious profile, with current animation practice and wishing to share their skills with young artists particularly invested in various narrative media.
The position mainly concerns teaching animation to students in the preparatory cycle and the first year of the Bachelor of Fine Arts.
As EPAC is a small-scale school, we are looking for someone who not only wants to teach tools but also to transmit an animation culture, support experimentation and develop in students a solid understanding of movement and its fundamental principles.
Your mission
You design and deliver 2D and 3D animation teaching adapted to the students’ level and the educational objectives defined with EPAC’s coordination.
Your teaching may notably cover the 12 fundamental principles of animation, timing and spacing, key poses and in-betweens, storyboard and animatic, character animation, acting, walk cycle, staging, as well as the main stages of a 2D and 3D production pipeline.
Particular attention will be paid to the candidate’s ability to make the principles of animation understood beyond the software used.
You will also support students in developing their projects and occasionally contribute to pedagogical exchanges with other teachers at the institution.
Profile sought
We are looking for a professional animator with a dynamic, curious and committed profile, currently practising 2D and 3D animation and wishing to pass on their knowledge to a new generation of artists. Early-career professionals are also strongly encouraged to apply.
A higher education qualification in animation, animated film, digital imaging, Game Art or equivalent professional experience is desired.
You have good knowledge of 2D and 3D animation and master several tools used in contemporary pipelines, notably:
- 2D Animation: Toon Boom Harmony, Adobe Animate, After Effects, Photoshop and/or equivalent software.
- 3D Animation: Blender and/or Autodesk Maya, with good knowledge of modelling, rigging, animation, cameras, lighting and rendering principles necessary to understand an animation pipeline.
Knowledge of Unreal Engine, compositing, motion design, storyboard or other contemporary tools is an additional asset.
However, we place more importance on your mastery of animation fundamentals, your curiosity and your ability to teach than on exhaustive knowledge of a list of software.
Previous teaching experience is an advantage but not essential. EPAC can support the future teacher in structuring their content and educational objectives.
Organisation of the position
The contract represents a total of 238 hours over the 2026–2027 academic year, until June 2027, corresponding to an activity rate of about 29%.
Sessions are mainly organised in the afternoons:
- Monday: 13:15 – 17:30
- Tuesday: 13:15 – 17:30
- Wednesday: 13:15 – 17:30
- Thursday: 13:15 – 17:30
The schedule does not, however, imply presence during each of these four afternoons every week. Depending on the periods, classes may for example be spread over Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, only Wednesdays and Thursdays, or other configurations provided by the academic calendar.
The detailed annual schedule can be sent to candidates to allow advance organisation with their other professional commitments.
An intensive thematic period of about a week and a half is also planned from 30 November to 11 December 2026, with sessions from Monday to Friday from 13:15 to 17:30, except 7 and 8 December, public holidays with no teaching.
Given its activity rate of about 26% and the distribution of sessions over the academic year, this position is particularly suited to a professional wishing to develop a teaching activity alongside their main practice in animation, film, video games, illustration or, more broadly, the creative industries.
However, this is by no means a selection criterion: holding another professional activity in parallel is not required.
