Head Nurse of the Adult Intensive Care Unit
To complete its team, the Adult Intensive Care Medicine Service (SMIA) is looking for a Head Nurse of the Care Unit (ICUS) with a workload of 80% to 100%, on a permanent contract. The starting date is scheduled for 1 January 2027 or to be agreed.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital Centre (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research and education.
The Adult Intensive Care Medicine Service (SMIA) provides care for adult medical and surgical patients requiring intensive care. As a university service, it notably manages highly specialised and complex situations, with supra-cantonal missions such as care for major burn victims and heart or lung transplant patients. It also provides a local service for patients from the Lausanne region.
Mission
- You ensure efficient, safe and quality care for patients within your unit
- You lead and supervise the nursing team, promoting its development and collaboration
- You participate in the management and development of the service, in collaboration with your hierarchy and interdisciplinary managers
- You organise and oversee training, teaching and research activities in nursing
- You ensure the link between your unit and the service management and actively contribute to institutional and SMIA development projects.
Profile
- You hold a Bachelor of Science HES-SO in nursing or an equivalent qualification; for foreign diplomas, recognition by the Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is required
- You hold a diploma as an expert in intensive care EPD ES or an equivalent qualification
- You have at least five years of professional experience in intensive care
- You have management training or are willing to undertake training in this field
- You demonstrate strong leadership, management and team supervision skills
- You show dynamism, initiative and openness to change, as well as good decision-making ability
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and place particular importance on interprofessional collaboration
- You can respond effectively in acute and complex situations and actively engage in service development projects
- You are proficient with common computer tools.
