About the job
As the Civil Engineering Department, we lay the foundation for the quality of life in our city. We take care of the roads, green spaces, forests, waters, water supply, sewerage, and waste disposal – our team ensures that daily life runs smoothly. Are you keen to actively shape the infrastructure of our community? Due to retirement, we are looking for a motivated leader from the beginning of 2027 or by arrangement as
- The professional, personnel, and financial management of the road infrastructure area.
- Responsible for the city’s road infrastructure (strategic planning, new construction, repairs, maintenance).
- Project management and construction supervision over all phases from study to commissioning.
- Overall coordination between the city and its partners in the road space and traffic matters (canton, transport companies, network operators, police, etc.).
- Support and implementation of neighbourhood plans.
- Responding to political motions, concerns from the public, and drafting motions.
- Specialist office in building permit procedures.
- With the possibility to deputise for the Head of Civil Engineering.
- Have a sense of humour, enjoy working in a team, and are enthusiastic about our road infrastructure.
- Hold a completed degree in civil engineering from a university of applied sciences or ETH.
- Bring leadership experience and experience in road project planning.
- Have good knowledge of planning and approval procedures.
- Are motivated by the range of tasks between strategy, projects, and operational management.
- Enjoy writing and expressing yourself well.
- Are committed to the concerns of politics and the public.
- Are interested in or already have experience with future challenges in civil engineering such as sponge city concepts, sustainability, new forms of mobility, and digitalisation.
