Project Staff Member «Mending Rooms» and «Information Desks» (60%)
The education and integration programme «LernLokal» offers various services in the fields of education and integration.
Our eight mending rooms in the canton of Zurich offer migrants the opportunity to acquire sewing skills, engage with the local population, and gain an initial reference for job seeking. This service thus creates important foundations for the social and economic integration of women with a migration background.
The information desks are low-threshold contact points for newcomers, where they receive multilingual initial information and support in orienting themselves in their new environment.
For the services «Mending Rooms» and «Information Desks» we are seeking a project staff member (60%) from 1 January 2027 or by arrangement.
Mending Rooms
- Operational coordination and support of the eight mending rooms
- Recruitment, induction and support of around 35 volunteers who run the mending rooms on site
- Ensuring quality and further development of the service
- Networking with municipalities, parishes as well as social and specialist agencies
- Project documentation and reporting
- Assistance with fundraising
- Public relations and communication
- Administrative tasks
Information Desks
- Coordination and operation of the information desks
- Provision and communication of multilingual initial information for newcomers
The main focus of the tasks lies with the mending rooms. The approximate effort for the information desks is about half a day per week.
- University degree in social work, social pedagogy or a comparable field
- Sound knowledge of the social service landscape in the canton of Zurich and in the migration sector
- Experience in working with and supporting volunteers
- Strong flair for planning, organisation and coordination
- Intercultural competence, high social skills and enjoyment in working with people of different backgrounds
- Additional languages as well as skills in sewing and mending are an advantage
- Driving licence category B and willingness to work from Tuesday to Thursday
Start date: 01.01.2027 or by arrangement.
