About the job:
In a site- and function-spanning environment, the interdisciplinary sub-chapter CHU & CB Integration & Testing within the RDS System & Solution Development Chapter is responsible for the integration of hardware, software, consumables, and reagents, as well as the verification and internal validation of diagnostic instruments (hardware and software) to deliver innovative, high-quality, and reliable medical devices that meet our customers' needs.
As a System Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out assigned verification and validation activities in specific areas, including defining, maintaining, and executing test cases in close coordination with test management.
In this role, you will be a member of a high-performing, cross-site development team (Rotkreuz and St. Cugat) and work closely with the product definition team, hardware development, and other project-related functions in all phases of system development.
The ideal candidate:
Has completed an apprenticeship as a laboratory technician or holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in a relevant technical or medical field, as well as at least three years of experience in a routine diagnostic laboratory. They will combine technical understanding and an interest in mechanics with a strong commitment to quality (including GxP), ideally with experience in hardware/software testing and knowledge of coagulation or serum analysis. Excellent German and English skills (at least B2 level), team spirit, creativity, and a solution-oriented approach complete the profile.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Providing input for feasibility studies, root cause investigations and their execution in the BSL1/BSL2 laboratory, as well as analyzing and presenting the results within the team
- Creating, maintaining and verifying hardware test cases in all lifecycle phases (from early product development to product maintenance) taking into account the respective customer workflows
- Executing and documenting test cases, including documenting identified defects
- Maintaining laboratory equipment
- Ensuring compliance with relevant processes, guidelines and work instructions
Must Haves:
- Completed laboratory technician apprenticeship or a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in a relevant technical or medical field, such as medical technology, biotechnology, life sciences or a related field
- At least 3 years of professional experience in a routine diagnostic laboratory
- Interest in technology and mechanics
- The ability to actively contribute to teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration Contributing to the exchange of ideas and fostering a positive team spirit, mutual trust, and respect
- German language skills (B2 and above) and English language skills (B2 and above)
Nice to have:
- Initial experience in hardware/software testing (at the instrument and system level)
- Knowledge of coagulation or serum testing
- GxP knowledge
- Creativity and problem-solving skills (thinking outside the box)
