The Department of Medicine (DMED) provides comprehensive and specialised care for patients, both in hospital and outpatient settings. Within this department, the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Service manages, on diagnostic and non-surgical therapeutic levels, patients suffering from diseases of the digestive tract, liver, bile ducts and pancreas, taking into account services provided by other HUG departments. It provides endoscopic, percutaneous and transhepatic interventional procedures for the aforementioned organs.

This position is newly created and is part of the ALTER deployment aimed at ensuring work organisation compliance with the Labour Law (LTr).

Job Description

As head of clinic, you will ensure the care of hospitalised and outpatient patients presenting with gastroenterological and hepatological pathologies. You will participate in the diagnostic and therapeutic activities of the service, including endoscopic procedures.

You will work closely with attending physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop the most appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

You demonstrate resilience, clinical judgement and strong analytical skills in managing sometimes complex situations. Thanks to your organisational skills and ability to prioritise, you efficiently manage your clinical activities while responding to multiple demands (patients, phone calls, correspondence, meetings).

You operate in a demanding environment at the interface of care, teaching and research. In this role, you collaborate closely with the entire medical and nursing team and ensure clear, smooth and respectful communication with both colleagues and patients, adapting your language to their understanding.

Relying on your team spirit, you show solidarity in the face of unforeseen events. As head of clinic, you actively participate in the supervision and training of internal medicine residents and trainees in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology, adopting a mentoring role and sharing your expertise.

Qualifications

You hold a federal medical diploma or have training deemed equivalent by the Medical Professions Commission of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO).
 
For heads of clinic with a specialty title, you hold an FMH title in gastroenterology and hepatology or an equivalent title recognised by MEBEKO and possess the cantonal practice right or are able to obtain it before starting your position from the Geneva cantonal doctor.

You have 4 years of hospital general internal medicine experience followed by 3 years in gastroenterology and hepatology.

For non-French speakers, a C1 level in spoken and written French is required.

You have excellent communication skills within multidisciplinary teams and with patients, are dynamic, flexible, committed and discreet. Moreover, you have demonstrated strong adaptability and a strong team spirit and solidarity towards team members.
