As a first-tier supplier to our renowned business partner Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz, we are currently looking for a motivated and dedicated Software Engineer in Test for a temporary assignment of 1 year, with high probability of extension.
The successful candidate will join an innovative team shaping the future of diagnostics, working on the development of a complex system for molecular diagnostics. In this sensitive environment where precision is critical, the Test Automation Engineer is responsible for ensuring that software algorithms and hardware interfaces function flawlessly.
The role acts as a Software Engineer in Test (SET) and utilizes modern methods such as Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) to bridge the gap between requirements and technical implementation. The Test Automation Engineer is jointly responsible for the design, development, and implementation of automated test strategies for the molecular diagnostic platforms.
This includes both software-side security and the validation of physical interfaces through the use of state-of-the-art robotics solutions (standard market solutions as well as customized in-house developments). The work contributes directly to ensuring that diagnostic results in the laboratory are available quickly and with absolute reliability. The position operates in a technologically demanding field that combines the safety of Rust with the agility of modern CI/CD processes to perfect life-saving medical technology.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of automated test strategies for a complex overall system in molecular diagnostics
- Active application of Behavior-Driven Development to translate requirements into executable specifications using Cucumber
- Construction and maintenance of test frameworks using tools similar to Selenium, Appium, or SpecFlow
- Evaluation and integration of commercial robot arms as well as participation in the development of internal robotics tools
- Use of ALM tools such as Codebeamer to manage requirements and test cases while ensuring full traceability
- Responsibility for automated quality assurance within DevOps pipelines via GitHub and Azure DevOps
- Ensuring data integrity from the barcode scan of the patient sample to the final analysis of the PCR result
- Supporting the creation of test plans, protocols, and reports in accordance with ISO 13485 and regulatory standards
Must-Haves
- University degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Medical Technology, or a comparable qualification
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience in the field of software testing
- Experienced Programmer with sound experience in software development and mastery of clean coding principles
- Automation & BDD Expert proficient in using tools such as Selenium and BDD frameworks like Cucumber or SpecFlow
- ALM Know-how including experience with Application Lifecycle Management tools, ideally Codebeamer
- DevOps & CI/CD specialist proficient in handling Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery in GitHub or Azure DevOps
- Analytical Talent with the ability to familiarize oneself with the logic of complex diagnostic systems
Nice-to-Haves
- Knowledge of Rust is a strong plus, as we value performance and type safety
- Experience in controlling actuators/sensors or integrating robots into test procedures.
- Knowledge of Standard in Laboratory Automation (SiLA)
