What awaits you.
As a locomotive driver, you accomplish great things: by working at SBB Passenger, you transport around 482 million passengers each year. Once the paid 15-month second training is completed, you will travel the most beautiful railway lines in Switzerland. You bring our passengers to their destination punctually, thus contributing to a positive travel experience with SBB. Your professional daily life also offers many development opportunities as well as attractive conditions for all life situations. With us, night and weekend work entitles you to additional pay (for example, 16 francs per hour for Sunday work). Time bonuses between 10 and 30% are also granted for night work. This means you have more free time than staff who do not work nights or weekends. After training, the place of employment will be the Delémont depot.
What you can move.
- As a locomotive driver, you not only lead the train but also take responsibility for safety and punctuality on a very busy railway network.
- During the journey, you must be very attentive and react quickly and correctly to signals, speed instructions, and unpredictable events.
- You work independently while remaining in contact at all times with operations centres and control posts.
- Besides driving and manoeuvring trains, your tasks also include checking the technical condition before and after taking over the vehicle.
What you bring.
- You have completed a three-year apprenticeship or obtained a school-leaving certificate. Your motivation is more important to us than the sector you come from.
- You approach challenges calmly, make considered decisions even in stressful situations, and enjoy working as part of a team.
- You communicate fluently in French (level C2) and already have knowledge of a second national language, German (level A1).
- Your colour vision is perfect (no protanomaly or deuteranomaly) and there are no entries in your criminal record or debt collection register.
- During the intensive and demanding training period, you must demonstrate great personal responsibility and motivation, as well as show your commitment in various learning environments, from face-to-face phases to digital self-learning.
Your salary and social benefits.
Classification during the second training is based on function and age. You can find more information about the exact salary for this role under Career Change .
