Anaesthetic Nurse at the Ambulatory Surgery Centre (ASC)

The Ambulatory Surgery Centre (ASC) of the CHUV is seeking an anaesthetic nurse for an 80% to 100% workload, on a permanent contract. The starting date is scheduled for 2 November 2026 or to be agreed.

Context

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, the CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.

The Ambulatory Surgery Centre (ASC) provides care for patients undergoing outpatient surgical procedures. Within the centre, the anaesthesia team supports patients throughout their perioperative journey, ensuring their safety and comfort.

Mission

• You provide specialised nursing care in anaesthesia and participate in welcoming and informing patients and their relatives
• Under the responsibility of an anaesthetist who can intervene at any time, you perform general and loco-regional anaesthesia, reinjections, perioperative resuscitation, and post-intervention monitoring
• You participate in the control and maintenance of respiratory functions and airways, notably during tracheal intubation, and ensure the placement of peripheral venous catheters as well as the monitoring of infusions and transfusions
• You ensure the preparation and positioning of patients, maintenance of anaesthesia, awakening and resuscitation, as well as the daily verification of the equipment necessary for the activity
• You prepare anaesthetic agents according to medical prescription, surgical technique, and patient condition, and intervene calmly and rigorously in emergency situations
• You contribute to the prevention of complications and the continuous improvement of care quality
• You participate in the supervision of students and trainees as well as the integration of new colleagues
• You actively contribute to teamwork and service organisation, respecting institutional rules and protocols.

Profile

• You hold a nursing diploma; for foreign diplomas, recognition by the Swiss Red Cross is required
• You must hold a diploma as an expert in anaesthetic care or an equivalent qualification
• Ideally, you have experience in a similar field
• You are proficient with institutional IT tools
• You demonstrate calmness, rigour, and responsiveness, especially in emergency situations
• You possess excellent team spirit and good interpersonal skills and adopt a collegiate attitude
• You are available to work shift hours as required by the service.
