The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland. At PSI, we conduct cutting-edge research in the areas of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation, and fundamental sciences. The PSI Center for Accelerator Science and Technology designs, builds, and operates complex accelerator facilities for research at PSI. An important part of these accelerator facilities is power electronics. Currently, about 2500 power supplies with current ratings from 5A to 10kA and voltages from 1 V to 800 kV are in operation. Despite the great variety, the same requirements apply to all: high stability, very high MTBF, easy maintenance, and efficient interfaces with the central control systems for remote operation and diagnostics. Your Tasks
- Leading engineers and technicians in technical, personnel, and organizational matters
- Strategic alignment of technical developments and participation in their implementation
- Responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the large equipment inventory
- Participation in leadership tasks and activities of the accelerator technology department as well as promoting cross-departmental collaboration
- Monitoring relevant technical developments worldwide and publishing reports and presentations of the work carried out
Your Profile
- University degree with a master's degree in electrical engineering
- Proven expertise in power electronics
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrable leadership qualities
- Experience in the development of power electronics devices is essential, knowledge in the field of high voltage is an advantage
