At PFIFFNER Schaltgeräte AG, we develop high voltage circuit breakers in an environment with short decision-making paths, high technical depth, and real creative freedom. The development of F-gas-free high voltage circuit breakers is a central future topic for us. You have the opportunity not only to develop your ideas but also to test, further develop, and accompany them to market maturity yourself.

As a development engineer in electrical engineering at the Hirschthal / AG location, you take responsibility for validation, type tests, and the further development of our high voltage circuit breakers – with direct influence on technology, product, and implementation.

Your tasks

• Responsibility for the electrical design and optimization of high voltage circuit breakers regarding functionality, efficiency, and standards compliance
• Development, analysis, and evaluation of prototypes as well as implementation of technical improvements
• Planning, execution, and evaluation of type and validation tests according to relevant standards
• Analysis of geometry, arc extinction behavior, as well as electrical fields and circuits for targeted product development
• Use of simulations and calculations for the design and evaluation of high voltage switching devices
• Development and further development of calculation and evaluation tools in collaboration with internal software development
• Close technical cooperation with project management, design, test field, production, and industrialization
• Technical support for internal interfaces as well as occasional consulting of sales for demanding customer inquiries

What you bring

• Completed studies in electrical engineering, energy technology, or a comparable field, ideally with a focus on high voltage technology
• Several years of professional experience in the development, validation, or testing of high voltage circuit breakers or comparable high voltage products
• Experience with gas-insulated high voltage circuit breakers is an advantage
• Very good knowledge of relevant standards and test requirements, especially IEC 62271
• Experience with type and validation tests, ideally including external testing bodies
• Solid technical understanding of electric fields, switching processes, and high voltage phenomena; knowledge in optimization techniques (e.g., VBA, Python) is an advantage
• Structured, independent working style as well as willingness to take on technical responsibility
• Fluent German and English skills
