The Geneva Foundation for Sociocultural Animation is a partnership institution, funded by the Canton and municipalities, whose mission is to promote and maintain social cohesion in the canton of Geneva, that is to ensure the quality of the relationship between individuals and society. Through socio-educational, sociocultural, and associative field actions carried out by centers and outreach teams, the Foundation meets the population's needs in terms of meeting, exchange, solidarity, citizenship, and quality of life, with a general objective of preventing social exclusion.
A position for a sociocultural animator between 70 and 80% is open at the Saint-Jean Neighborhood House (MQSJ).
Job Description
Neighborhood animation
Through a collective and participatory approach:
- Encourage the active involvement of residents in neighborhood life,
- Strengthen knowledge of the neighborhood and the sense of belonging,
- Facilitate access to culture, leisure, and spaces for expression for all,
- Design, coordinate, and evaluate sociocultural projects in line with field needs,
Relations with the neighborhood and network work
- Develop and maintain close relationships with neighborhood actors (associations, collectives, residents, City of Geneva services),
- Disseminate and uphold the values of the association's institutional project,
- Actively participate in professional, associative, and citizen networks in the neighborhood,
- Contribute to social networking and the partnership dynamics of the territory,
Examples of activities:
- Welcoming new residents,
- Organizing debate aperitifs,
- Managing and animating the photo lab and rehearsal rooms (music and dance),
- Coordinating the Quartier Libre newspaper,
- Participating in the organization of parties and events.
Qualifications
Skills and experience
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in social work, HES level or an equivalent university degree (education sciences, sociology, psychology, anthropology, ethnology / State Diploma of Specialized Educator (DEES), State Higher Diploma of Youth, Popular Education and Sport (DESJEPS). SEFRI recognition of the DEES/DESJEPS must be obtained during the first year in the position and grants access to the maximum function class.
- Proven experience in sociocultural animation,
- Strong interest in working with diverse audiences,
- Recognized skills in project conceptualization and management,

- Aptitude to create connections and mobilize residents,
- Ability to actively seek information and develop adapted solutions,
- Autonomy in action and creativity in approach,
- Ability to manage priorities, unforeseen events, and new situations,
Professional attitude
- Taste and aptitude for participatory work in a collegial team,
- Close collaboration with instructors, administrative and technical staff, the management committee and its commissions,
- Willingness to work with and for associations and in networks (City of Geneva, other associations, social actors and stakeholders),
- Good knowledge of the Geneva social system and the functioning of FASe,
- Proficiency in common computer software and good writing skills.
