Head of Construction Engineering Section within CIT-S
The Directorate of Construction, Engineering, Technical and Security (CIT-S) of the CHUV is looking to complete its team with a Head of Construction Engineering Section at a rate of 80% to 100%. The starting date is scheduled for 1 December 2026 or a date to be agreed.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, the CHUV plays a leading role in the fields of medical care, medical research and education.
The Directorate of Construction, Engineering, Technical and Security (CIT-S) of the CHUV has as its main missions, ensuring the continuity of medical, research and administrative activities:
- Infrastructure and facilities: development, construction, relocation and modernisation of assets.
- Operation of facilities and equipment: maintenance and renewal of technical and biomedical installations.
- Safety and organisation: protection of people and property, management and optimisation of the service's operation.
Within this framework, the Construction Engineering section – as the representative of the Client – manages and carries out construction and renovation projects, coordinating CVSE contractors, providing technical and hospital expertise, and anticipating user needs. It also ensures the design and transformation of buildings, in collaboration with operators and internal CIT-S teams, while managing regulatory and legal aspects.
Mission
- You ensure management and lead the engineering of installations, infrastructure, equipment
- You conduct processes related to strategic planning, as well as more operational ones such as needs assessment, programming, studies and implementation
- You manage all phases and at all levels of engineering or construction operations of installations, infrastructure, equipment as the Client's representative
- You provide a strategic and critical perspective on proposed solutions and guarantee the identification and control of risks
- You carry out specific activities related to the role of management manager
- You ensure technological watch in your field of expertise
- You collaborate closely with the operation-maintenance-upkeep and architecture sections.
Profile
This position is aimed at a person with the following skills:
- You hold an HES/EPFL engineering degree in a technical field
- You represent the Client's interests in technical decisions
- You are competent in advanced financial planning and management in the construction and engineering field
- You have successful experience in project management and team management
- You have solid experience in technical building maintenance in a hospital environment
- You possess excellent leadership, demonstrate rigour, have a good team spirit, personal willingness for self-training and excellent communication skills
- You know the standards, laws and regulations related to the professions
- You master the main IT, office and professional tools
- You are ready for on-call duties in a management service
- You hold a category B driving licence and live no more than 45 minutes from the workplace (on-call service).
