Job Description
We are looking for a Laboratory Technician (M/F/D) to join our quality control (QC) laboratories at our Monthey site.
In this role, you will independently perform routine, special, or complex analyses on samples from production and finished products. You will thus help ensure product compliance with specifications, reliability of analytical results, and continuous improvement of laboratory practices.
Your Responsibilities
- Independently perform quality control analyses and interpret the results obtained.
- Carry out analyses using gas chromatography (GC) and liquid chromatography (HPLC), as well as other physico-chemical analyses as required by the laboratory.
- Monitor analytical methods related to existing processes and contribute to their optimisation.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new analytical methods, as well as the management of simple development projects. Use various specific analytical equipment and contribute to their proper functioning, maintenance, and monitoring.
- Document results, laboratory logs, and test reports in a structured, precise, and up-to-date manner.
- Identify opportunities to improve methods, procedures, and laboratory practices.
- Strictly apply HSEQ, quality, and safety requirements, and maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace.
- Share your knowledge and, depending on the organisation, support apprentices or interns.
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a laboratory technician role, with autonomous practice of analyses.
- Good command of chromatographic techniques, especially HPLC and GC.
- Experience in the safe and effective use of analytical equipment.
- Ability to interpret results, solve common problems, and organise work independently.
- Good writing skills to produce quality documentation and technical reports.
- Team spirit, clear communication, and ability to work with people of various ages and profiles.
Education and Skills
- Federal VET Diploma (CFC) as a chemical laboratory technician or equivalent training.
- Knowledge of hygiene, safety, environmental, and quality rules applicable in a laboratory.
- Proficiency with computer systems and tools used in a laboratory.
- Very good command of French; technical English, spoken and written, is an asset.
- Knowledge in spectroscopy and/or elemental analysis is an advantage.
Additional Information
- Position based at the Monthey site, in a modern laboratory environment equipped with various recent analytical instruments.
- Work mainly performed on-site, close to analyses, equipment, and production.
- Participation in an on-call system organised and planned in advance, representing about 6 to 7 weeks per year.
- During on-call periods, availability to intervene on-site within about one hour is required. Close collaboration with production, other laboratories, and Process Technology teams.
- Opportunity to develop varied analytical expertise, contribute to method improvements, and eventually progress to a Senior Lab Technician role.
